Genison Oliveira is a Brazilian visual artist born in 1977 in Maranhão, Brazil. He currently lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. His work is characterized by a contemporary approach that blends traditional techniques with modern experimentation, exploring themes such as identity, memory, and the relationship between the individual and space.
Throughout his career, Oliveira has participated in numerous exhibitions across Brazil and Europe, including shows in Lisbon, Toulouse, Geneva, and Belém. His work has been presented in venues such as the Castelo D’If – Atelier Portas Abertas in Lisbon, Galerie Alexandre Mottier in Geneva, and the Château de Cambiac in Toulouse, among others.
Oliveira’s artistic practice often begins with organic forms, which he explores as metaphors for transformation and growth. By incorporating reused and organic materials into his work, he creates a visual language that reflects the connection between the natural and the unexpected. These materials become essential collaborators in his creative process, adding layers of meaning and transforming the space of the artwork.
His works are part of important collections, including the Instituto de Arte do Pará (IAP), the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon, and the Casa da América Latina in Lisbon.
